Quail /Kada Fry
Quail fry is a popular dish made with quail meat that is marinated in a variety of spices and then deep-fried until crispy and golden brown. It is a common appetizer or side dish in many countries, including India, where it is often served as a street food snack.
The preparation method for quail fry can vary depending on the region or cuisine, but typically involves marinating the quail meat in a mixture of spices such as chilli powder, turmeric, and coriander powder, Garam masala ,salt and ginger garlic paste for a few hours or overnight.
Quail fry can be served as a standalone dish or as a part of a meal, often accompanied by dipping sauces or chutneys. It is a flavorful and delicious way to enjoy quail meat, which is known for its tender texture and rich taste.
Ingredients:
- 6-8 quail
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 2-3 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1.5 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Lime Juice 2tsp
- Pepper powder 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves
- Crushed Garlic 2tsp
- Coconut oil
- Water as needed
Instructions:
1. Clean and wash the quail thoroughly. Make deep cut in their bodies to absorb masala. If you need small pieces cut them into small pieces.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine ginger paste, garlic paste, chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well toform a paste.
3. Add the quail pieces to the spice paste and mix well so that the quail is coated evenly.
Cover and marinate the quail in the spice paste for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
4. Heat coconut oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
5. Fry the marinated quail pieces.
6. Fry both sides until brown colour.
Garnish with fried garlic (crushed) and curry leaves
Serve hot with rice or Chappathi/Paratha/Roti.
