Unakka Kappa Puzhukku, Kappa Vevichathu, Dried Tapioca Recipe

Today I am here with dried tapioca recipe.Normally we make kappa puzhukku or fresh tapioca recipe with / without coconut mixture which is popular among the people from Kerala.I brought dried tapioca from Kerala which was given by my elder sister.
There are two types of dried tapioca ie;unakka kappa and Vattukappa.Unakka kappa which has been cleaned ,washed and directly dry in sun for few days.
But Vattukappa which has been cleaned ,washed and half cooked in water .When it is half cooked drain off water completely and dry in sun  for days. Vattu kappa/Dried tapioca can be stored for many months in air tight boxes/ containers.

 
How To convert  fresh tapioca to dry Tapioca
  • Freshly harvested tapioca root has been cleaned and washed well.
  • Slice into medium sized pieces.
  • Boil water and add those pieces and cook until 50% done.
  • Once half cooked drain Water .
  • Dried tapioca pieces in sun for few days.
  • Dried tapioca can be stored for many months in air tight boxes/ containers.
Before cooking dried tapioca recipe/vattukappa we have to soak those pieces in water for atleast 5 hrs.

  • DriedTapioca 200gm
  • Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Greenchilli 5
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chillli Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Salt
  • Water
  • CurryLeaves
  • Gratedcoconut 1/4 cup
