Chakka Vevichathu /Mashed Jackfruit

Today i am here with one tastiest mashed jackfruit recipe.My mother-in -law prepared this dish during our summer vacation in Kerala .

Ingredients

For cooking Jackfruit pieces we need the following ingredients
1.Raw Jack Fruit-1( medium sized)
2.Salt as rquired
3.Turmeric Poweder 1/2 tsp
4.Water 1/2 cup
5.Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
6.Curry Leaves

Ingredients For Coconut mix

1.Grated coconut 1 cup
2.Cumin seeds 1tsp
3.Garlic pod 4
4.Greenchilli /Kanthari 3-5
5.Fenugreek seeds 3-4(optional)
6.Curry Leaves
7.Whole pepper 2tsp

Coconut oil 3tbsp(After cooking the dish add fresh coconut oil for extra flavour)

Method

1.Cover and Cook Jackfruit pieces with  Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, salt, water(1/2 cup) and curry leaves on medium flame. Don't forget to stir in between.
2.Crush grated coconut with the above mentioned ingredients.
3.When the jackfruit is cooked add the crushed coconut mixture and let it cook for a few more minutes on low flame
4.After 3-4 minutes open the pan and mash the mix  with back of the spoon
5.Check for salt and switch off the flame.
6.Finally add a few curry leaves and fresh coconut oil for extra flavour and aroma.

My mother in law usually  adds fenugreek for this recipe  . Normally in some places people are not adding fenugreek seeds for this recipe. If you don't want fenugreek seeds you can skip it.
