Chukku kappi, also known as chukku coffee or dry ginger coffee, is a herbal drink popular in South India, particularly in Kerala. It is made by combining dry ginger (chukku) (here i used raw ginger), black peppercorns, cardamom, and sometimes other spices with coffee or water. This mixture is then boiled and simmered to extract the flavors and aroma of the spices.

Chukku kappi is believed to have several health benefits. Dry ginger is known for its medicinal properties and is often used to alleviate digestive issues, colds, and coughs. It is also believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Black peppercorns and cardamom are added for their warming properties and to enhance the taste of the drink.

To prepare chukku kappi, the spices are usually ground into a coarse powder and then boiled with water or coffee. The mixture is simmered for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse. For sweetness we can add add jaggery or palm jaggery .

Chukku kappi is typically enjoyed hot and is often consumed as a natural remedy for colds, coughs, and indigestion. It is also considered a refreshing and invigorating beverage, especially during the monsoon season or on rainy days.
