Easy Breakfast /Dinner Recipe
Puttu is one of the main breakfast/dinner recipes in South India.Normally it is made with rice flour /wheat flour but today i am here with one healthier version of Oats Puttu.
Following are some of the health benefits of Oats
1.Oats are incredibly Nutricious
2.Oats are rich in antioxidents.
3.Oats Contain powerful soluble fibre called Beta Glucan.
4.It helps to reduce cholestrol levels. So it may lower the risk of heart diseases.
5.Oats can improve blood sugar control.
6.Oats meal may help you lose weight.
Here is the recipe for Oats Puttu
1.Quick Oats 1cup
2.Salt as required
3.Water as required
4.Grated Coconut as required
Method
1.Dry roast 1 cup of Oats in a thick bottomed pan for at least 5 minutes on low flame.
2.Grind this into a fine powder when it is completely cooled down.
3.Add a little salt into it.
4.Mix this powdered oats by sprinkling water little by little with your fingers until oats becomes moist.
5.After mixing this powdered oats with water you will see some lumps .
6.To remove those lumps pulse this mixture in chutney jar /Mixer grinder.
7.Use the pulse mode two times and you will get smooth oats puttu powder
8.In case if the oats powder becomes too sticky after pulsing it in the grinder , you can add 1 tbsp of roasted oats into it and pulse it again.
8.Boil water in a cooker.
9.Take one puttu maker/Puttu Kutti.
10.Put the small plate with holes inside the bottom part of Puttu maker mould.
11.Fill the Puttu maker mould with grated coconut and then Puttu powder .Repeat the process until the mould is filled.Add enough grated coconut on the top layer.Cover with lid .
12.Steam cook about 4-5 minutes on medium flame.
13.Once it is cooked take out the mould from cooker .
15.Let it cool down for 3-5 minutes.
16.Invert into a plate and serve .
